Independent Study:

The Independent Study Program is committed to serve and assist those families who have chosen to provide their children a home-based Christian education. In the Independent Study Program, the parents are their children's teacher and guide their children through the educational process to become responsible, capable adults, living a lifestyle which honors the Lord.

Cedar Park Christian School academic advisors meet regularly with parents and students to assist in the planning, overseeing and evaluating of the student's academic program.

Each student's individualized program is designed to meet the needs of that student, while also meeting the educational requirements for high school graduation as required by the State of Washington and Cedar Park Christian School.

Cedar Park Christian School Independent Study Program is fully accredited in conjunction with the accreditation of Cedar Park Christian School.

Objectives
  • To establish individual educational plans with each student.
  • To evaluate student progress.
  • To maintain regular contact with the home and family regarding the education of each student.
  • To teach and evaluate appropriate study skills
  • To provide creative educational programs to meet the individual needs of each student to include: fine arts instruction/mentoring, work-study opportunities and career training.
  • To contract Christian, Washington State certified teachers as academic advisors
  • Review monthly goals and accomplishments
  • To provide opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities such as sports, drama, music, and chapel programs
  • To provide opportunity to take classes on campus that might be beyond the scope of the home teacher (e.g.. band, choir, laboratory science, yearbook, upper division math)
  • To continually evaluate student progress including Stanford Achievement testing
  • To meet the graduation requirements of Cedar Park Christian School.
  • To provide a variety of resources, activities and approaches to learning, including work-study opportunities, career training, field trips, small group and individualized instruction tutoring.
  • Maintain all student records and transcripts.
  • To provide counseling and career guidance when requested.
  • To continue to expand the Independent Study program and develop curriculum that meets each student's needs.
Requirements
  • To lead a life honoring to God.
  • To work together with the school to provide Christian training in righteousness.
  • To actively support the school in its policies and procedures and in prayer.
  • To faithfully commit to all financial obligations.
Curriculum

Curriculum for the program is a core Christian curricula. ABeka, Bob Jones, ACSI, and Alpha Omega are the curriculum choices offered. Parents may select from a variety of other sources at the home school store and several Christian bookstores.
